 NHS recommends sessions of CST by a formally trained individual.

It's about mental stimulation. It encourages those taking part to have an active mind and be engaged, exercising skills that they haven’t used in a while and slows down the progression of living with dementia..

Not only does engaging with CST improve cognitive functioning, it benefits anyone in need of mental stimulation or social engagement and confidence building; to simply live well .

CST sessions are safe spaces: the focuspositive approach offered to everyone's contribution  has been shown to enhance feelings of optimism and, through this, many other mental health conditions

The NICE-SCIfE guidelines  recommend that people with mild to moderate dementia should have the opportunity to take part in a group CST programme as an intervention to promote cognition, independence and wellbeing.
